Hace más de una década la construcción con recursos públicos de canchas sintéticas de fútbol en Cúcuta y Norte de Santander se volvió una tendencia que se mantiene y a diario cobra más fuerza. Lo que nunca ha quedado claro en todo este tiempo, aunque muchos sí parecen saberlo, es cuál es el objetivo real de dichas inversiones millonarias que terminan en manos de operadores privados que administran a placer, lucrándose con el cobro de alquileres para todo tipo de eventos, pagando arrendamientos simbólicos y sin cumplir ningún tipo de labor social en los sectores donde se construyeron, originalmente con ese carácter.
Indudablemente estos escenarios han cambiado positivamente la cara de muchos sectores de la ciudad donde antes el denominador común era tener una cancha de tierra amarilla con vidrios y piedras para el “disfrute” de los vecinos y amantes de la actividad deportiva. La llegada de la gramilla sintética les cambió la cara a muchas canchas y permitió que se generara una sensación de que la calidad de vida para los vecinos del escenario iba a ser mejor. Si bien la cancha está ahí, en la mayoría de las situaciones su uso es restringido y depende de terceros que en ocasiones ni habitan el mismo barrio.
De nada servirá seguir construyendo canchas de este tipo si estas obras no están acompañadas de planes integrales de intervención para que la población de perímetro intervenido sienta un provecho real y verdadero de la inversión recibida por el gobierno local, departamental o nacional de turno. La cancha por sí sola no cumple un papel estratégico en el desarrollo comunitario si a su vez no se implementan estrategias complementarias que erradiquen la mala costumbre de entregársela a un particular para que la explote comercialmente sin generarle ningún valor agregado a los habitantes de la zona.
Alguien deberá ponerle el cascabel al gato para que esta situación no siga pasando inadvertida, especialmente en estos momentos que varias canchas de Cúcuta fueron intervenidas y remodeladas con gramilla sintética. Ojalá no sea demasiado tarde, pues oí en el bus que varios de estos escenarios, como la cancha de los Copetes, la popular cancha del diablo y la histórica cancha del barrio Colpet, que están a punto de ser entregadas por la respectiva constructora, ya están en manos de particulares que lograron sellar contratos de administración por varios años y sin contarle a la ciudadanía cuál es el plan a seguir, de qué manera trabajarán también para la comunidad y no solo para implementar sus escuelas de futbol, alquilársela a sus amigos y llenarse los bolsillos con escenarios que fueron logrados con el valioso aporte de los impuestos que pagamos cada uno de nosotros.
