¿Bajaron los índices de inseguridad en Cúcuta?

Un informe de la Secretaría de Seguridad Ciudadana ocasionó molestias al interior del Concejo de Cúcuta

Bajaron los índices de hurtos a comercios, también disminuyeron las cifras de hurtos a personas y residencias en Cúcuta, según un informe de la Secretaría de Seguridad Ciudadana de la administración municipal.

Documento que fue ampliamente criticado por el concejal Jorge Acevedo, quien indicó que la inseguridad y la crisis carcelaria son dos temas que deben ser tomados en serio por la Alcaldía de Cúcuta.

“Faltaría preguntarle a los cucuteños si eso es realmente lo que ellos perciben o si son solo cifras que mostramos para quedar bien con la ciudad. La realidad es otra y la inseguridad hoy tiene tomada a Cúcuta”, dijo el excandidato a la Alcaldía.

Agregó que el crecimiento exponencial de la inseguridad en Cúcuta, sumado al hacinamiento que padece el centro carcelario, llevará a la ciudad a una ‘catástrofe’, con un mal adicional a los que hoy afectan al municipio.

“El hacinamiento va a hacer que dentro de poco tiempo atraquen a la gente y no haya a dónde llevar a los reclusos. ¿Qué medidas se van a tomar desde la Secretaría de Gobierno y en cuánto tiempo se estarían dando estas soluciones? Me tomé la tarea de hablar con los ministerios de Interior y Justicia y por ningún lado hay algún convenio para la ciudad de Cúcuta”, aseveró.

Dice Acevedo que el centro carcelario de Cúcuta tiene una capacidad para 2651 personas y hay 3239. Además de un promedio de 700 reclusos que permanecen en las estaciones de policía porque no hay espacio en la prisión.

“La comunidad está teniendo que lidiar con toda la problemática de tener un centro de retención frente a su casa; se presentan motines, peleas y la ciudadanía se está viendo afectada en especial en el Trigal del Norte porque no hay la capacidad instalada para los contraventores de la Ley. Hace un año el Secretario de Gobierno del momento (Francisco Cuadros) trajo al director del complejo penitenciario y se comprometió a darle solución a esta problemática y aún no ha habido ninguna. Ya va año y medio de esta administración y no se tiene claro qué se va a hacer frente a eso”.
