Si los anuncios hechos por el IDEAM en los últimos días, resultan ciertos, Norte de Santander vivirá una Navidad pasada por agua, y un inicio del 2021 con decenas de familias damnificadas.
Las lluvias que desde mediados de julio empezó a anunciar la Secretaría de Gestión del Riesgo de Desastres de Cúcuta, no aparecieron en el mes previsto, sino finalizando octubre, lo que hará que tampoco se acaben para fin de año, como se había anunciado, sino que se extiendan hasta abril de 2021, con un incremento incluso de las mismas hasta niveles nunca antes vistos en la región.
En apenas 15 días de lluvias, Cúcuta ya ha registrado decenas de damnificados, sin que hasta el momento se hayan dado las precipitaciones que se tienen presupuestadas. En los barrios periféricos de la ciudad, sobre todo en aquellos que se han levantado sobre terrenos que fueron invadidos y por lo mismo no cuentan con todas las garantías para hacerles frente a las lluvias, las inundaciones y afectaciones de todo tipo, han empezado a hacer mella en las viviendas de tabla y techos de zinc que abundan por estas zonas.
Las autoridades tratan de hacerle frente a este tipo de problemas, pero es inevitable que se queden cortas a la hora de atender a tantos damnificados que aparecen luego de cada aguacero.
Por ello, en vista de que las capacidades se estaban quedando cortas, la Alcaldía de Cúcuta decretó la calamidad pública para agilizar la capacidad de respuesta y atención ante la emergencia que, sumada a la pandemia, auguran un fin de año bastante oscuro para los cucuteños.
Ojalá que el gobierno nacional se apiade de la región y destine todos los recursos que sean necesarios para ayudar al mandatario municipal a hacerle frente a una crisis que, según los expertos, podría ser peor que la que generaron las lluvias a finales de 2010 y que dejó tantos estragos en la ciudad, los mismos de los que algunas comunidades, 10 años después, no han logrado sobreponerse.
