Pasaron las elecciones al Congreso, se confirmó que las maquinarias locales no habían muerto a pesar de los vientos de cambio que se preveían después de las protestas del año pasado y la política local volvió a lo mismo de siempre: la revocatoria del alcalde Jairo Yáñez.
Sí, la misma que desde hace año y medio viene promoviendo un grupo de personas encabezadas por su vocero Jaime Vásquez, quien a pesar de que ha renunciado dos veces públicamente a continuar con dicha vocería, hoy parece que los resultados del domingo 13 de marzo le recargaron las energías para volver al ruedo con el tema. Porque la verdad sea dicha, la revocatoria del mandato del alcalde Jairo Yáñez no ha muerto. De hecho, la última fecha que propuso en enero la misma Registraduría, para llevar a cabo las elecciones, fue el próximo domingo 27 de marzo, es decir, pasado mañana.
Como es apenas obvio, este domingo no se llevarán a cabo ningunas elecciones, menos en medio del agitado debate que se vive por estos días y que tiene a la Registraduría en el ojo del huracán por los cuestionados resultados de los comicios del pasado 13 de marzo. Sin embargo, ello no quiere decir que estas no se vayan a realizar en una nueva fecha por definirse y que, tal y como están las cosas, los resultados no sean del todo favorables para los intereses del alcalde Yáñez. Veamos por qué.
Los resultados del domingo 13 de marzo pusieron de manifiesto varias cosas que se creían iban a cambiar ese día. La primera de ellas es que el ‘ramirismo’ no ha muerto como se preveía. Esa fuerza política fue capaz de reelegir a Jairo Cristo como representante a la Cámara y hasta de ponerles votos a otros candidatos más al Senado, locales y de otras partes del país. También dejó en evidencia que, a la hora de asegurar sus tajadas burocráticas, las maquinarias regionales saben de dónde sacar la plata y el haber perdido la Alcaldía de Cúcuta hace 2 años no fue impedimento para asegurar los triunfos de los mismos de siempre. Además, asegurados los congresistas por 4 años más, la Alcaldía se convierte en un botín apetecible, así sea por año y medio no más, pues tienen que recuperar por algún lado los ‘ahorros’ que se gastaron en las elecciones de hace dos semanas y empezar a ‘organizar’ los gastos que se les vendrán encima el próximo año con las elecciones a Concejo, Asamblea, Gobernación y Alcaldías.
Así las cosas, lo dicho por el vocero de la revocatoria hace un par de días cobra especial sentido pues, contrario a lo que se creía de que el tema había muerto, ahora parece haber resucitado de entre las cenizas y la Alcaldía (que se quedó sin congresista, pues Francisco Cuadros se quemó), no va a contar con el respaldo de nadie para ayudar a equilibrar las cargas. Además, como afirman algunos, la negativa del alcalde Yáñez de hacer política y establecer alianzas para al menos terminar su mandato, le dejan el camino servido a quienes le quieren correr la butaca.
En la Alcaldía todos parecen convencidos de que, fiel a sus principios, Jairo Yáñez no va a mover un solo dedo para impedir que, en democracia, el pueblo que lo eligió decida si se va o se queda. Una postura digna de admirar, pero que condena a muerte su proyecto de una ‘Cúcuta 2050’ pues, sin sucesor, todo lo que haya querido hacer estos 4 años será olvidado por quien le reemplace y de quien no cabe la menor duda que saldrá de las entrañas de los que ese 27 de octubre de 2019 él derrotó.
*Puntilla 1: Si en las elecciones para decidir si se revoca o no el mandato del alcalde Yáñez, gana el sí, pero faltan menos de 18 meses para que termine su mandato, no se convocarían elecciones para elegir a su sucesor, sino que sería el gobernador Silvano Serrano quien tendría que escoger entre una terna enviada por el Partido Verde, al encargado de finalizar el actual periodo.
