FELIZ CUMPLEAÑOS CUCUTA

“289 años de amor por lo nuestro”

Hoy se cumplen 289 años de la fundación de Cúcuta, capital de Norte de Santander y epicentro de muchos hechos importantes para la historia de Colombia y la región oriental de américa del sur, partiendo solo de algunas premisas importantes que nos lleva a mejorar nuestro sentido de pertenencia y cuidar lo nuestro, proyectar a futuro lo que se viene para la perla del norte; en primer lugar, su ubicación estratégica, Cúcuta no está construida al azar, es punto equidistante entre las primeras formaciones prehispánicas que luego terminarían haciendo parte del virreinato de la nueva granada y la capitanía general de Venezuela, sus grandes afluentes de agua que otrora época permitieron no solo la subsistencia sino la navegación para el intercambio comercial que se convertirían en arterias de desarrollo y que hoy le dimos la espalda, sus ricas tierras de siembra que permitieron el mejor cacao del mundo, estancias gigantes que tuvieron que traer mano de obra esclava y que no tenían límites territoriales porque jamás existió una línea fronteriza, por ello la mezcla entre indios, esclavos, blancos, negros de África, mulatos hacen rica esta región en la diversidad y desde estas bases se construyó lo que sería luego una hermosa ciudad con estilo europeo abandonando muy rápidamente su inclinación colonial a la corona española, en segundo lugar el surgimiento de nuestra fundación es distinta a distinguidas ciudades como la Mitrada de Pamplona con pedro de Ursua y Ortun Velazco, acá aunque con debate por varias fechas se firma una escritura que permite no solo la separación en los actos litúrgicos de blancos e indios sino la creación de una advocación a san Joseph de Guasimal, termina convirtiéndose esta en una parroquia  que hasta el sol de hoy lleva su nombre y que nuestro patrono San José nos sigue protegiendo, guiando, por todo lo anterior Cúcuta se convierte en punto de referencia para el comercio, la historia, la cultura, la buena música, la literatura, el pensamiento, la diversión, las acciones políticas de libertad e independencia, cuna de grandes hombres y mujeres que impactaron en cada una de estas áreas a nivel local, regional, nacional e internacional, también pasamos por difíciles momentos el terremoto de mayo de 1875, la espectacular reconstrucción en dos años de la misma con diseño único en el mundo y luego nos azota la guerra de los mil días, la fiebre amarilla, el derrumbamiento de la economía transfronteriza, pero una y otra vez como ave fénix volvíamos a renacer, a comenzar de nuevo, jamás nos dimos por vencidos, al contrario frente a cada adversidad nos ingeniábamos cosas nuevas de impacto como el ferrocarril internacional, el  tranvía, el telégrafo, las casa comerciales internacionales, etc, que épocas aquellas, un día damas distinguidas quisieron hacer un pequeño pero modesto homenaje a la ciudad, oh sorpresa nace el monumento del Cristo Rey que imponente cuida la ciudad con su bendición, acá ese muchacho  de Venezuela en quien nadie creía comienza la campaña admirable, terminaría siendo el gran libertador Bolívar, por acá paso el más grande hombre de nuestra nación, nacido en cercana villa de nuestra señora del rosario Francisco de Paula Santander, podríamos enumerar muchos más elementos para sentirnos orgullosos pero en algún momento algo paso, la realidad se tornó distinta, se perdió la esperanza, no se cree en lo nuestro, en lo propio, no amamos nuestra ciudad, se nos olvidaron las glorias y quedamos solo en lo negativo, que resaltamos a cada rato y que no permite unirnos para transformar.

El mejor regalo que podemos hacerle a nuestra ciudad hoy en su cumpleaños 289 es conocer lo que hemos construido, de dónde venimos, de lo que somos capaces de hacer, partiendo de allí volver a soñar como nuestros antepasados que a pesar de los aniquilamientos morales creían y hacían; hacia adelante, debemos entre todos sin diferencias propios y foráneos pensar en que ciudad queremos que nuestros hijos crezcan y se desarrollen, que legado debemos dejarle a la humanidad desde este rincón suramericano, proyectarnos sim ambages , sin temor y planear a futuro, eso no se logra con líderes mesiánicos, ni con discursos populistas, eso es diciendo y haciendo, respetando las normas, la moral, volviendo a colocar los valores y ciudadanía en el centro de nuestra educación; termino con las palabras del primer obispo de Cúcuta  hijo de esta ciudad a la que tanto amamos monseñor Luis Pérez Hernández: “ Que bonito es nacer en Cúcuta; vivir en Cúcuta, morir en Cúcuta”; feliz cumpleaños , lo vamos a lograr.
