La historia de vida de Cristian Montenegro se viralizó después de que él mismo decidiera hacer pública su realidad. Entonces, todos conocimos a un joven que vive en una de las localidades más vulnerables de Bogotá. Cristian Montenegro asegura que su familia está compuesta por una esposa y tres hijos de trapo. En medio de la extrañeza del caso, recientemente Cristian se vio envuelto en un escándalo por presuntamente usar una ambulancia para que su esposa fuera atendida.
A pesar de lo mediático del acontecimiento, a la fecha ni actores distritales ni nacionales han dado declaraciones desde una perspectiva de salud mental. Ni siquiera el Colegio Colombiano de Psicólogos que aparentemente agremia la voz de los profesionales en la materia. No existen dolientes de la salud mental capaces abanderar una problemática de la que ningún ser humano está exento y parece que quienes reconocemos en este suceso, todo menos una mofa, somos la minoría. Preocupa que la salud mental no tenga protagonismo cuando cada vez más incrementan los casos de depresión en el país y tanto niños como adolescentes demandan mayor atención por algún problema mental y socioafectivo.
Sin entrar a hacer evaluaciones clínicas del caso de Cristian porque sólo un proceso terapéutico riguroso lograría arrojar un diagnóstico certero y porque no es mi interés aún cuando sea psicóloga, no hay que ser experto para escuchar a Cristian Montenegro y evidenciar que a través de su relato existe una afectación cognitiva y que a sus 27 años no parece encontrarse en la etapa de desarrollo mental esperado, según la psicología evolutiva. Tampoco es necesario hacer un estudio extenso para saber que el hecho de autopercibirse miembro de una familia de muñecos de trapo, representa una conducta fuera de la norma social.
Sin embargo, lo que busco con este texto es visibilizar los comentarios violentos sobre los que se ha justificado un linchamiento no sólo a Cristian sino a la salud mental y que lo único que evidencian es un desprecio absoluto por las problemáticas que afectan el comportamiento humano. Esto, porque puedo llegar a entender la curiosidad que se genera alrededor del caso, pero jamás pasaré por alto banalización de este asunto.
Por un lado, la respuesta colectiva ha sido justificar la burla hacia Cristian por exponer su vida en redes sociales y por querer ganar atención. Alcanzar más de 60 mil seguidores en TikTok, es una forma en la que Cristian busca ser validado en sociedad. Sufrió bullying en su infancia y las inseguridades que aún posee sobre sí mismo -porque así lo revela hablando sobre su historia de vida en pareja- parecen encontrar calma en la aceptación que los demás le demuestran en redes con las reacciones que recibe a diario. Ahora bien, que la sociedad en pleno uso de sus facultades mentales, reaccione con morbo o crueldad a su caso, se reduce a una canallada.
La violencia por parte de los medios de comunicación tampoco ha escaseado. En medio del escándalo por el supuesto y ahora falso uso de la línea 123 por parte de Cristian para atender a su esposa, el medio red más se atrevió a calificar esto como “una payasada” y recalcaron en la necesidad de hacerse responsable de los asuntos de salud mental en el ámbito privado. Esa, es una de las cosas más violentas que he visto en televisión nacional en contra de este tema. En caso de haber sido cierto, Cristian, que ha creado vínculos afectivos significativos con su familia de trapo y que reafirman su identidad, merecería que se le expliquen cuáles son las limitantes de acceso a servicios para su familia, por ejemplo y no ser crucificado en televisión nacional.
Sin embargo, para el momento de redactar este texto, se conoce que fueron los paramédicos quienes pidieron a Cristian que hiciera con ellos un video en la ambulancia ¡Esto es peor! Una sociedad que no sólo se burla, sino que utiliza a las personas con afectaciones mentales para beneficio propio. Tanto estos como otros comentarios y actos que busquen únicamente la instrumentalización de la historia de vida de Cristian, deberían causar una indignación que hasta el momento no he visto o por lo menos no en la magnitud que se merece.
Por último, es absurda la exigencia a Cristian de hacerse responsable de su salud mental asignándole además una carga y en cierto grado, culpa por su propia situación. Así como lo hacen con la depresión y otras tantas problemáticas, tratando ignorar por un lado las barreras en el acceso a servicios especializados de salud para una persona en condiciones de vulnerabilidad y, la responsabilidad que todos tenemos porque esto es un asunto de salud pública. A nivel mundial el promedio del presupuesto de salud asignado a salud mental llega a un paupérrimo 2% y baja en países en vía de desarrollo aún cuando los trastornos mentales, neurológicos y por abuso de sustancias responden a la principal causa de discapacidad y las personas que los padecen tienen entre 10 y 25 años menos en la esperanza de vida. Parece entonces que librarse del problema ha sido invisibilizar su importancia, rechazar a quienes padecen de enfermedades en este campo de la salud y crucificarlos, si es el caso.
