El dolor es inevitable, el sufrimiento es opcional

Boris tenía seis años cuando vivió uno de los traumas más severos para un infante, la pérdida de sus padres y ser detenido por la Gestapo. Era un día de 1943 cuando logró escapar de aquella redada, gracias a la ayuda de una enfermera de la Cruz Roja.

Sería difícil adivinar el futuro de Boris, pero muy por el contrario de cualquier expectativa, este suceso lo impulsó a estudiar psiquiatría y profundizar en un concepto que en medio de lo que hoy vivimos cobra mayor relevancia: la resiliencia, y su definición es sencilla: es la capacidad de iniciar un nuevo proceso de desarrollo después de un trauma. Todos los seres humanos estamos sometidos a momentos difíciles en nuestras vidas, pero cada uno se repone a ellos de diferente manera.

Según los estudios de Boris Cyrulnik, los primeros años de vida son fundamentales en la generación de esa capacidad resiliente de los niños, cobra mayor fuerza el brindar entornos donde se sientan seguros; en ese sentido, si el niño se ha sentido protegido y ha adquirido la capacidad de sentir placer, de esta manera tanto el colegio, los vecinos y en cualquier entorno, podrá superar eventos adversos.

Esta premisa tiene fundamentos científicos incluso con el desarrollo neuronal de niños que han crecido en diferentes entornos; ahora bien, nadie está exento de experimentar la muerte de un ser querido, afrontar una enfermedad o cualquier otro suceso negativo de la vida, pero sí puede estar mejor preparado a afrontar y adaptarse a esta situación.

Existen dos formas de hacerlo; la primera, que la persona cambia para adaptarse a la nueva realidad, en este caso se asume que la adversidad supone un cambio.  Por otro lado, se entiende la resilencia como la capacidad de volver a donde estaba antes del trauma, para así seguir funcionando.

Entonces la resiliencia es ir más allá de la experiencia dolorosa y buscar en uno mismo el sentido de la existencia, pero a su vez aceptar las propias limitaciones y dificultades, sin generar un ideal de lo que tengo que ser, sino permitiendo ser feliz con los logros alcanzados día a día.

Podemos ver que cuando la persona cuenta con un entorno de apoyo, sufre en realidad por aquel suceso negativo, pero eventualmente deja de sufrir en la representación de esa realidad, que es como la percibimos.  En cambio, si la persona está sola y persiste en pensamientos de desgracia, se agrava la sensación de sufrimiento e incluso puede derivar en depresión.

La afectividad y la conexión con otros es clave para luchar contra nuestra propia tendencia natural de aislarnos. Tal como lo indica Boris en su libro: “No es necesario hablar de inmediato, primero tenemos que sentirnos seguros, como los niños, pero luego tenemos que recurrir a nuestros afectos. No es necesario que sea alguien profesional, puede ser una amistad o alguien que nos haga sentir seguros. De eso depende, en gran medida, que la situación traumática dé paso o no al sufrimiento posterior prolongado.”

Como Boris existen muchos niños en Colombia y Norte de Santander, que atraviesan situaciones complejas de abandono, pobreza, maltrato, crecimiento en entornos de conflicto armado; por esta razón la presencia del Estado como garante de derechos se vuelve vital, así como el papel de la sociedad de ser partícipe en la generación de entornos protectores.

    Como seres humanos debemos entender y aceptar la realidad de las situaciones que nos suceden a diario o que se nos presentan de una u otra manera en nuestras vidas, aprender a aceptar lo que sucede a nuestro alrededor y entender que muchas veces son situaciones ajenas a nosotros mismos, pero que indiscutiblemente nos pueden marcar significativamente vuestra biografía, es allí donde se debe generar la aceptación de la postura que se esté viviendo en el momento, aceptar también los cambios y siempre tomarlos de manera positiva ☺️ analizando los sucesos y reinventando los efectos de “X” acontecimiento.
