Cuando se piensa en quiénes ejercen la política en Norte de Santander, son pocos los nombres que se vienen a la mente. Exgobernadores, exalcaldes y algunos congresistas que por varios periodos han ostentado el poder en la región, son los primeros que se imponen por su frecuente aparición en los medios locales o porque, también hay que decirlo, alguien cercano a nosotros ha sido beneficiario de su red clientelista.
Pero, ¿por qué tiene que ser esto así? ¿Por qué cuando se avecinan las elecciones damos por descontado, como si fuera una herencia, quiénes son los que van a ganar? ¿Por qué esa falta de apoyo a nuevos liderazgos? O es que, como creen algunos, ¿estamos faltos de nuevos líderes?
La reciente elección de Héctor Parra en la rectoría de la Universidad Francisco de Paula Santander es una clara muestra de esto. Siete periodos al frente de este cargo, completando, con el actual para el que fue elegido, 22 años, ponen de manifiesto cómo en un espacio tan pequeño como este, si se compara con la ciudad, los nuevos líderes son opacados por las redes que, a la sombra del poder, se alimentan ofreciendo migajas a quienes les sirven para sostenerse.
Extrapolando esta realidad a la ciudad y al departamento (por no decir al país), lo que vemos es un bloqueo permanente de la clase política tradicional a los que se podrían considerar los nuevos líderes locales. Lo ocurrido con Jairo Yáñez en las elecciones de octubre de 2019 podría ser una primera muestra de ese cansancio que ya se empieza a notar entre quienes han visto cómo los de siempre han sido incapaces de llevar a la ciudad a un panorama distinto. Pero ese cambio que se dio ese 27 de octubre, no puede agotarse allí. Hace falta que ese impulso que se consumó aquel día, contra todos los pronósticos que se tenían previstos, no cese y, por el contrario, se sigan promocionando nuevas apuestas, nuevas ideas, nuevas políticas, nuevas formas de hacer las cosas y, sobre todo, nuevas maneras de dirigir lo que es de todos.
Para las próximas elecciones, primero al Congreso y la Presidencia, y después a las asambleas, concejos, alcaldías y gobernaciones, es importante que desde ya se vayan detectando esos líderes que vienen desde abajo, desde las bases, moviendo los cimientos que propicien la revolución que la ciudad y la región se merecen, la revolución del bien común por encima del bien particular. ¿Difícil?, sí, pero no imposible.
