EUREKA, UN GRAN PROYECTO PARA LA CIUDAD

Los proyectos de ciencia y cultura en todas partes del mundo representan un verdadero salto cualitativo para la sociedad. Requieren muchos recursos financieros y humanos, pero sobre todo mucha inteligencia de profesionales y científicos de distintas disciplinas académicas, que procuren con mucha propiedad proteger el medio ambiente y la biodiversidad, desarrollar la ciencia y la tecnología, estimular la innovación, apropiar conocimiento y proyectar el futuro de las regiones.

Si algo necesita nuestra ciudad de Cúcuta es arte, creatividad, museos, bibliotecas, galerías, música, laboratorios. En una visión prospectiva, cualquier cucuteño espera tener un espacio para las grandes obras del espíritu. Con ello, se alimentarán muchos conceptos de educación y vida ciudadana, que repercutirán en los sentimientos de las nuevas generaciones.

El Centro de Ciencia de Cúcuta es un proyecto que surgió como idea en la mente de algunos soñadores y que poco a poco se fue convirtiendo en un anhelo colectivo de ciudad. Hay ideas que tardan algún tiempo en madurarse o mejor en vivenciar la metamorfosis de su evolución antes de materializarse como realidad; fue el caso de  Eureka, una idea que viene gestándose desde finales de la última década del último siglo y milenio y que la Fundación Cultural El Cinco a las Cinco, con el apoyo de connotados profesionales de la región, retomó para darle forma y presentarla como proyecto a la Alcaldía de la ciudad, entidad que no dudó en adoptarla como propia e insertarla en el Plan de Desarrollo. Eureka será un hito que revolucionará la ciudad y que marcará definitivamente un punto mágico en la historia de Cúcuta.

El Parque Interactivo de Cultura, Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación de la Frontera, EUREKA, es un proyecto para la Cúcuta del Siglo XXI. Será un espacio para la cultura, la educación y la ciencia, en su más alta expresión. Un Centro con el que se aspira a fortalecer la cultura científica y tecnológica de la región. Tendrá por objeto el desarrollo y la operación de actividades de educación, ciencia, tecnología, turismo, cultura y recreación y se espera que sea un elemento de transformación científica, cultural y social de los ciudadanos cucuteños.

Se espera que EUREKA sea un lugar de encuentro de la familia nortesantandereana y de los habitantes de la frontera venezolana, donde concurran los estudiantes de todos los colegios, escuelas, institutos, el SENA y universidades de las áreas circundantes a plantear problemas e iniciar investigaciones de todo tipo; donde se estimule la inteligencia colectiva para la construcción de una sociedad regional más equilibrada; donde la gente tenga un sitio popular en el que pueda evolucionar y aprender muchas cosas nuevas; donde se inicien los encuentros con la cultura, la ciencia y la tecnología; donde se respire educación, ciencia, cultura y buenos hábitos; donde la gente pueda tener fe y confianza en el futuro regional, por la sapiencia y sabiduría de los docentes y la fuerza de la imaginación y creatividad de los estudiantes; donde todos tengan a la mano los elementos más importantes de la cuarta revolución industrial que puedan incidir en el desarrollo y progreso de nuestro territorio.

El Parque EUREKA muestra cinco grandes unidades. Cultura; Ciencia y Tecnología; Medio Ambiente y Ecología; Salud y Vida Inteligente y Universo. Las unidades de Cultura y Medio Ambiente y Ecología son transversales a todo el Parque.

Al frente de cada una de las Unidades existe una Coordinación y de estas dependen los más de 50 profesionales adscritos, todos ellos colaboradores voluntarios del proyecto, quienes se han dedicado a concebir la idea, los alcances, las características, los espacios geofísicos y los presupuestos aproximados de cada Unidad.

La de Ciencia y Tecnología constará de centros modulares en biología, química, física, electrónica, robótica, mecatrónica y comunicaciones. La de Salud y Vida Inteligente tendrá las áreas de neumología, neurología, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal y vida saludable. La de Medio Ambiente y Ecología cubrirá gran parte del área del Parque y tendrá áreas de Biodiversidad (desarrollo paisajístico, senderos ecológicos, lagos artificiales, parquecitos, xiloteca (maderas), carpotero (semillas) y mariposario); Agua (creación del sistema de potabilización y chorro artístico a presión) y Cambio Climático (demostración científica, académica y técnica del fenómeno).  La de Universo, contará con un Planetario de 12 metros de radio, tipo inclinado 23 grados, el Observatorio Astronómico y la Sala de Modelos de Naves Espaciales.
