El próximo domingo 5 de junio el mundo celebra el Día Internacional del Medio Ambiente, el objetivo es sensibilizar a la población acerca de la importancia de cuidar nuestros ecosistemas y fomentar el respeto al medio ambiente. Esta fecha no es coincidencia, fue el inicio de la Conferencia de Estocolmo donde todos los países miembros de las Naciones Unidas centraron los ojos en el irreversible daño que las acciones humanas han generado en el planeta y en la supervivencia de la especie.
Por esta razón, todas las entidades estatales, locales, ONG ambientales y ahora se suman las empresas, hacen una invitación conjunta a mejorar los hábitos de consumo. Desde las empresas a desarrollar modelos más ecológicos, en los gobiernos a proteger los ecosistemas estratégicos de recurso hídrico, desde las instituciones educativas y profesores a incentivar valores naturales y de cuidado y por supuesto, los jóvenes a alzar la voz y ejecutar acciones por el futuro del planeta.
Para el año 2022 el tema central es “Una Sola Tierra”. Con ello se pretende visibilizar la emergencia que afronta nuestro planeta referida al clima, evidenciando el acelerado calentamiento global y la escasa capacidad de adaptación de las personas y la naturaleza. A su vez, la pérdida de hábitat ha impactado a más de un millón de especies, encontrándose en peligro de extinción, unido a ello la contaminación impacta de manera negativa y radical en el aire, tierra y agua.
Para ello, muchas entidades se han volcado a visibilizar los cambios en muchos territorios que cada vez más son azotados por la deforestación, el crecimiento de especies en vía de extinción y la disminución del recurso hídrico para la subsistencia de comunidades enteras.
Esto nos lleva a pensar, que hace algunos años nadie hablaba de términos como BIODIVERSIDAD, que hace referencia a la amplia variedad de seres vivos sobre la Tierra, según datos científicos, hay aproximadamente ocho millones de especies en nuestro planeta, viviendo en un ecosistema único; cada miembro de esta biodiversidad juega un papel fundamental en el equilibrio natural.
Ahora bien, cada año también se escoge un país anfitrión para esta conmemoración, el 2022 fue el turno para Suecia, allí se llevará a cabo la conferencia Estocolmo+50, en la cual se impulsarán acciones para lograr un planeta sano para todos y se conmemorará el 50° aniversario de la Conferencia de las Naciones Unidas sobre el Medio Ambiente Humano.
Pero más allá de las celebraciones, que esta sea una oportunidad para hacer una verdadera reflexión, en momentos tan críticos para el planeta, en el que el recurso hídrico de calidad es cada vez más escaso, las políticas públicas en temas de medio ambiente y regulación deben estar a la altura de lo que vivimos, no puede ser letra muerta; cada uno de nosotros como ciudadanos de un solo refugio llamado TIERRA, debemos entender que estamos conectados y nuestros dirigentes son los primeros llamados a tenerlo claro. Hacerse de la vista gorda e ignorar lo que sucede ya no es una alternativa.
La consigna “Una sola Tierra” destaca la necesidad de vivir de forma sostenible, en armonía con la naturaleza, a través de cambios sustanciales impulsados por políticas y elecciones cotidianas que nos guíen hacia estilos de vida más limpios y ecológicos.
